BCLC Informs of Expiring CA$1M Lotto 6/49 Prize

British Columbia Lottery Corporation reminds that a Lotto 6/49 worth CA$1 million is less than two days from expiring. According to the Crown agency, the ticket was purchased in Maple Ridge and it dates back to the September 28, 2022 draw of the popular game. However, still, no one has contacted the organization about claiming it.

Lotto 6/49 is a widely popular lottery game with draws on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Its Gold Ball Draw is a guaranteed prize draw where players can claim either the Guaranteed Prize of CA$1 million or the expanding Gold Ball Jackpot which starts at CA$10 million. Also, the Classic Jackpot offers a prize that is always clocked at CA$5 million.

Seeking the Winner

In its latest press, the BCLC explains that the ticket was purchased in Maple Ridge last year and it won an amazing CA$1 million from the Lotto 6/49 draw on September 28, 2022. However, prizing winnings in Canada have a 52-week expiration period, and in that time, the winner has not contacted the agency about claiming the money prize.

As the winner is yet to emerge, the Crown agency is advising its players who purchased a ticket for the September 28, 2022, draw in Maple Ridge to check or even double-check their tickets for the winning Gold Ball draw number:12299795-01. Tickets can be checked at BCLC lottery retailers in the province, or at any time via the BCLC Lotto! App.

BCLC also reminds that all lottery prizes in the province and the country have 52 weeks from the draw printed on the ticket to be claimed by their holders. Also, the exact retail location where a winning lottery ticket has been sold, and the winner’s identity, are announced once they come forward and claim the reward at a BCLC centre.

According to information from the Crown agency, to this day in 2023, local lottery players have already claimed more than CA$83 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49. In the meantime, BCLC offers socially responsible gambling while also generating proceeds to benefit the lives of British Columbians. It reminds its residents to play for fun and not make money.

B.C. Players also Win Big in Lotto Max

On top of winning big in Lotto 6/49, British Columbians have also claimed some sizeable lottery windfalls in the other popular game of many Canadians – Lotto Max. In July 2023, Kamloops local Rhonda Malesku took home a cheque worth CA$35,000,000, as she is one of the two winners of a grand CA$70,000,000 jackpot in the game. The winning ticket was bought at Walmart on Hillside Drive.

Also, earlier this year, Debbie Ramsay and her husband Lahsen Rezrazi claimed a winning of CA$35 million. Mr. Rezrazi explained he was on his way to pick up his wife when decided to stop by a grocery store for milk and cream. Then he checked his lottery tickets. First, he won a CA$10 free play while to his surprise the last ticket displayed the number CA$35,000,000.
